Learning to drive with Manual Transmission/Gearbox

Learning to drive in a manual car may take longer and seem challenging at the beginning, however with a bit of practice and support from your instructor, you should become acclimatised within a few lessons.

The advantage of taking manual driving lessons is that when you pass your driving test, you will receive a “Full UK Driving Licence”, and will be eligible to drive both automatic and manual cars in the UK, as well as many other countries. The main advantage however, is that manual cars are generally more affordable and cheaper to run than their equivalent automatic version.

In a manual car, you have 3 pedals. Running right to left, these are the accelerator, the brake and the clutch. You will have to select gears and steer, though the majority of drivers pick this up within a few lessons, and go on to obtain a Full UK Licence.
